Tattoo Aftercare Salve:
Below is our advice based on more than 15 years of combined experience with various prominent Tattoo Artist.
We care about, not only quality of your aftercare products but also the speed and cleanliness in the healing of your new Tattoo, while also obtaining the best colour.
Tattoo Salve is ORGANIC!
Your Tattoo Artist undoubtedly will have something very definite to say about aftercare, and it is probably a good idea to listen to him/her. It is also likely that studio regulations may require that they only recommend a certain mainstream product or your artist may not know about herbal products and caution you about using something they are not familiar with.
Ask Us … not only do we know a lot about tattooing but we also know a lot about our product!

A Tattoo is an "open wound" -- and thus subject to the possibility of an infection. Good hygiene is important. You do want to give the skin opportunity to breath, moisturize and heal. Follow instructions below.
By virtue of the Tattooing process itself, you are going to see colored pigment "shed" from your Tattoo during the healing process - that's perfectly normal. The stability of the pigment in your skin depends much more on the technical skill of the Tattoo Artist that applied your Tattoo (factors such as control of the depth of the needle inserting the pigment, not over-working your skin, etc.) than to the healing process itself.
How Long Before I Can Remove the Bandage?
Although you might want to show off your new design… wait at least 4-6 few hours. Principally, this is to allow the traumatized skin to heal and the "oozing" (lymphatic fluid and blood) to stop flowing. These fluids may drain and collect in the bandage for an hour or more on a fresh Tattoo. You are also a bio-hazard with a big, fresh open wound… keep that covered! Don't let your friends touch. It is a natural instinct to want to touch a new tattoo. Like a crow and shiny things.
After the appropriate time period day remove the bandage or plastic film wrap. Clean your new Tattoo well with our gentle, non-abrasive Tattoo Soap and warm water. DO NOT SCRUB -- but clean it well to remove the excess ink and dried fluid or residue. Rinse with cold water to close the pores, locking in colour. Pat dry, then apply a thin layer of your Tattoo Salve.
There is no need to keep your tattoo bandaged after the first day unless you are engaged activities where it will be exposed to hot sunlight or subject to dirt and bacteria. If you do need to keep covered, use loose fitting clothing.
Application:
Moisturize once a day and again just before bed with Tattoo Salve. Wash your hands before application. Only use a thin layer of ointment and gently massage until the skin absorbs it. Let the salve soften with the heat of your fingers before rubbing in.
Everybody's skin is different so use the above as guideline, experiment and stick with what works best for you. You want it to be moisturized but you also want it to get air.
DO NOT PICK at your new Tattoo. The skin should form an peel, like a sunburn. Allow this to slough-off naturally while bathing -- and some will dislodge when you gently apply your Tattoo Salve. Just don't pick at it. Remember it is an open wound, use hygiene. Don't let people touch it. Don't let your dog lick it !
Some areas of the body are harder to heal and you may experience heavy scabbing or cracking. If this occurs hydrate the skin with warm water and apply Tattoo Salve a little more frequently to that area.
Scratching and Picking -- DON'T!!
Other Products:
Most over the counter creams like Noxzema or Lubriderm have alcohol and other artificial products in them that can dry out your skin or burn, where as the petroleum based products like Neosporin or Vaseline clogs the pores.
Our Tattoo Salve is a natural, gentle and effective way to heal you tattoo properly. Ask us for accolades!
The Tattoo Salve mini size is a perfect amount to heal your Tattoo even if it is large. We do not over package because we don't want anyone to share this product with friends for hygiene reasons.
